Books
When I’m tired I bring out one of my book filled cases
I read a book in one of my secret spaces.
The book takes me a lot of places:
Flying and beating World War Two aces.
Going and betting on wild horse races,
A cowboy and the sheriff in a duel stepping off paces,
Stuck in the Mojave desert with no water looking for an oasis,
In a ballet where all the ballerinas were graceless,
Huddled in embarrassment when I tripped on my shoelaces,
A dective looking for someone without any traces,
In a baseball game trying to steal the bases,
In the future with no familiar faces,
In a new school with nerdy braces.
Books can take you anywhere
So grab one and find a chair;
I dare.
